Phuong Dong has completed the restoration of a Francis turbine runner D840 using PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) and Laser Cladding technologies, with 410NiMo and Stellite 6 welding powders.
After prolonged operation, the turbine runner developed areas affected by wear, corrosion, and cavitation erosion. Phuong Dong carried out inspection and surface preparation, followed by cleaning and removal of damaged areas before restoring the components using appropriate weld overlay techniques.
After welding, the runner was machined to restore the required dimensions and profile, followed by quality inspection to ensure compliance with the specified technical requirements before returning the runner to service.
