During operation, the working surfaces inside a valve body can experience wear, resulting in dimensional changes that may affect sealing performance, assembly accuracy, and overall valve operation.
For this project, the area requiring restoration was a Ø110 mm bore located deep inside the valve body, making access and surface repair particularly challenging.
Laser Cladding Solution for Deep Internal Valve Body Bore
To restore the worn area, Laser Cladding was used to deposit additional material directly onto the internal working surface of the valve body.
The main challenge was that the repair area was located deep inside the Ø110 mm bore, with limited working space and restricted access for conventional welding methods.
To overcome this challenge, a specialized Laser Cladding head for deep internal bores was used. The compact cladding head could be inserted deep inside the valve body, allowing precise access to the worn area.
The material was deposited layer by layer onto the worn surface, forming a metallurgical bond with the base material. After cladding, the component could be machined to the required dimensions, ensuring the necessary accuracy for assembly and operation.

Restoration Results
After Laser Cladding and finish machining, the internal working surface of the valve body was restored to the required dimensions, allowing the component to be reassembled and returned to service.
